Christians should make their communities better places.
I don’t think any of us would disagree with that statement, but if we’re honest, how often do we intentionally make this a priority? Having a close-knit community is vital, but when it ends there, we become a clique.
That’s not who we want to be at NCC.
In Jeremiah 29:7, God calls his people to “seek the welfare of the city where I’ve sent you.” We want that to be true of us, not just at certain times of the year, but day in and out. We want it to become a way of life, for us as a church, in community groups and as we live our own lives.
Starting on October 1st, we’re embarking on a sermon series called B.L.E.S.S. The aim behind it is to help shape our lives individually and corporately to become a blessing day by day in Tacoma. It’s not rocket science, but too often we can let the massive needs that surround us prevent us from even beginning to try to do our city good. Our hope is that as we explore this, we can see that step-by-step and little by little, we can have an impact. We can work for the good of our city.
Watch out, Tacoma, here we come.
