There’s been a lot happening at McCarver lately. Here’s a brief update:
This Thursday, February 23 is a Family Fun Night. It would be great to get 10 volunteers out there serving and blessing the school. Volunteers should plan on being there from 5:45-7:45PM. It’s a bingo-themed night, and what you would be doing is walking around with students and their families, helping them at different stations in the school.
In a couple of weeks is the Scholastic Book Fair. On Friday, March 2 the PTA will need some help setting it up in the afternoon. From Monday-Thursday of the next week (March 5-8) there are shifts from 12-3PM and that Friday (March 9) from 3-5PM. Anyone who could help break down after 5 would be needed as well. Another great chance to serve the school, and spend time with parents at McCarver.
We can always use more recess monitors throughout the week, folks to fill backpacks with food on Friday mornings, and once a month art docent volunteers. All you need is a background check with the school.
Serving McCarver is something we do as a church because we want to be on mission in the city – we are blessed to be a blessing. If you haven’t had a chance to get down there and meet some new people at McCarver, I encourage you to give it a try. If you have been down to McCarver, thank you so much! I encourage you to come again – you’ve seen first-hand the needs at the school.
Send me an email (email@example.com) if you’re interested in serving McCarver in any way. See you at the school!
