'Tis the season to... shop, go into debt, panic, get depressed, remember all that you failed to accomplish, stir up bitterness in your heart toward those who have failed you? Stop. Remember. Seek. Rest. 'Tis the season to find the Baby. When we find the Baby, we find hope in a broken world. I want to call each of you to a season of hope and celebration. Let's open the Bible together and allow Jesus to open our hearts.
We are approaching the Advent season. Advent simply means: The LORD is coming. This is a season to celebrate the first coming of Jesus, Emmanual, God with us... and to look forward to His return.
Here are a few ways to engage in this wonderful season:
1. Our NCC Kids team have published a wonderful resource for individuals and familys. Gather your family together to point them to the Savior who has come near! NCC Kids Avdvent Resources
2. Engage in an Advent Bible reding plan. At the bottom of this post is a pdf called ADVENT Bible Reading Plan 14. Download it, grab your Bible, a cup of your favorite warm beverage, and go for it!
3. Remind yourself that this is a season of giving. The Gospel can be summed of in these two words, "God gave." Let's be generous to those in need. You were created to reflect your Father and we certainly do so by giving.
My prayer for myself and for you this season is this, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2 ESV)
